Going behind the scenes to build with Comau

Testing our platform and Flowstate with a leading industry partner

Comau employees using Intrinsic Flowstate in their facilities

When we introduced Intrinsic Flowstate as our first developer product built on the Intrinsic platform, we also introduced our first industry partner: Comau. Based in Italy, this leading robot manufacturer and global systems integrator has been working with us over the past several years to validate our platform technology and our developer product Flowstate through real-world use cases.

At automatica, we will be showcasing how Comau is using Flowstate and the Intrinsic platform to assemble the rigid components of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) supermodule. Supermodules are compact energy converters that help electric vehicles to be charged and operated more efficiently for better range and performance. In our case study below, we explore and hear firsthand how Comau and Intrinsic are working together:

Case study: Comau uses Intrinsic Flowstate to automate the assembly of rigid components

In our product keynote earlier this year,  Pietro Gorlier, CEO of Comau, explained:

To continue to grow into the future, we need to constantly pursue opportunities to more efficiently serve our existing customers… but also bring in the next software innovations to address new industries such as renewable energy, battery production, and logistics. We believe that Intrinsic Flowstate will make it much faster to design, program, and reprogram robotic work cells, saving hundreds of manual programming hours on every project.

– Pietro Gorlier, CEO of Comau

Comau, like Intrinsic, is eager to help solution builders leverage software to solve difficult problems in valuable ways. By empowering more of their team, including developers, to build AI-infused solutions faster and in more scalable ways – Comau can offer more modular and affordable solutions to their customers over time. When solutions are faster and more efficient to build, more companies can be introduced to automation in ways that make sense for them financially and operationally.

We hope to see exponentially more small and medium-sized businesses innovating and growing with robotics in the near future. We’re excited to be on this journey with Comau and others diligently working towards a future where robots are more accessible productivity tools.

Partnering with Comau over the years has brought our team a tremendous amount of expertise, knowledge, and real world use cases to focus our efforts on. We’re excited for what’s next and what it will mean to the solution builders of today and tomorrow.
