Hands-on work has always been part of my personal life, working with my father to maintain the family catamaran, and recently restoring a century-old, 10,000+ sq-ft machine shop. Professionally, making the switch from pure software engineering to automation felt like finally being able to bring my whole self to work. It filled me with child-like excitement to watch software step beyond abstract information processing to perform tangible actions in the real world.
