Collaboration and open development are cornerstones of innovation in any industry. In robotics, this trend is picking up as well, especially in Germany. To promote an ecosystem of cooperation and collaboration, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) funded the RoX project with a goal of enabling the design of more efficient processes across the entire value chain in the field of robotics systems. We’re excited to share that Intrinsic and our dedicated team in Germany will be working to further this goal as part of the RoX consortium.

The RoX consortium brings together leading industrial companies and scientific institutions in the field of digital data and service ecosystems and robotics – working toward a future where AI and robotics seamlessly merge to unlock innovative solutions to manufacturing challenges. Our Munich team is playing a key role in this effort, collaborating with some of the leading experts in the German ecosystem to bring the immense potential of intelligence-infused robotics into automation — with real deployments.

“This project marks Intrinsic’s first funded collaboration in Germany,” said Rainer Bischoff, Intrinsic’s General Manager for Germany. “By participating in this groundbreaking initiative, we're helping define the future of AI-based robotics in Europe around a scalable digital ecosystem that drives practical application and innovation.”

By promoting cooperation and collaboration, the RoX project is structured to encourage various new applications that lead to greater resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness across the industry. For example, building more efficient and adaptive automation solutions that use AI to increase flexibility, could enable companies to build sustainable solutions faster and in more scalable ways. Like other collaborative German and European initiatives, including Manufacturing-X and 8ra-initiative, RoX is bringing the right experts, technologies and collaborators together to help elevate the whole ecosystem.

In the short term, the RoX project is already implementing some of the most in-demand use cases across industries and verticals, such as loading and unloading, order picking and kitting, automating production processes and workcell commissioning with AI.

Intrinsic will be leading a key part of the project focused on developing tools for engineering automation solutions, emphasizing a deep understanding of users and their journeys. We are also actively contributing to the overall architecture of the RoX ecosystem, which, like Intrinsic’s own system architecture, is distributed from edge to cloud.

Our team is eager to learn from and collaborate with fellow RoX partners, bringing to the table a more open and interoperable platform, intuitive developer tooling, and AI-enabled capabilities.  By applying our technology innovatively to existing challenges, we aim to discover improved methods for collaboration and unlock new value for the industry. This collaborative effort within RoX will help us build better roadmaps and shared objectives, enabling the development of more usable and reliable AI in robotics. We’re grateful to BMWK and NextGenerationEU for their support in developing new projects and technology.
