Jake McCarter is the Head of Platform Product at Intrinsic, a robotics software and AI company at Alphabet. Intrinsic aims to unlock the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics for businesses, entrepreneurs and developers by making industrial robots easier to use and train. Intrinsic became an Alphabet “Other Bet” in July 2021.

At Intrinsic, he oversees a team of product managers, designers, and user experience researchers giving shape to Intrinsic's intelligent platform for industrial robotics.

Over the previous 12 years, Jake held product leadership roles at multiple robotics startups before eventually joining Intrinsic via the acquisition of Vicarious, a robotics AI company focused on neuroscience inspired approaches to computer vision and learning. As the first product hire at Vicarious, Jake developed strategy and managed commercialization of the AGI research at Vicarious into several RaaS deployments before eventually being acquired by Intrinsic. His first role in robotics came as strategy and product lead at Bossa Nova Robotics, an autonomous mobile robot and computer vision company responsible for deploying the first autonomous robots in customer facing environments, the largest integration scaling up to 300 Walmart stores. Earlier in his career, he worked as a management consultant at L.E.K. Consulting working primarily in the fields of aviation and life sciences.

Jake holds a bachelors of science in civil & environmental engineering and bachelors of arts in economics from UCLA. He also holds a masters in engineering management from Dartmouth College. Jake resides in California with his wife and daughter.
